The Qualification

The following Trainer qualifications are often not recognised as current, for people working in the VET industry. Scorpion provide courses to transition you to the current qualifications!.

  • TAE40110:    Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • TAA40104:   Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • BSZ40198:   Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training

There are several pathways available to convert your qualification to the current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. These are dependent on your prior qualification and your experience and currency as a Trainer in the VET area.

Upgrade from TAE40110 Qualification

From 1 April 2019; all VET Trainers must demonstrate competency and currency to the level of the new TAE40116 qualification.

Scorpion offer an upgrade from your TAE40110 qualification through a combination process. This program has been designed for individuals who hold the TAE40110 qualification (in any industry) and are training and/or assessing national units of competency.

You will be required to upgrade some or all of the following units as follows:
TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools                      (New Core Unit)
TAELLN411Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills (New Core Unit)
TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes                 (Supercedes TAEASS401B)
TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation                        (Supercedes TAEASS403B)

This typically involves a combination of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL/RCC) and a classroom based upgrade course. The classroom course can be from 1-3 days depending on your level of current qualification and experience in Training and Assessing.

Contact us for a free opinion on your eligibility for upgrade and we will identify the appropriate pathway for you.

You may also wish to consider upgrading your TAE40110 to the current TAE40116 qualification at the same time. This could help to future proof your currency!

Upgrade from TAA or BSZ Qualification

Due to a large number of changes to course requirements since the TAA40104 and BSZ40198 were released and trained, upgrading either of these qualifications to the current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment requires significant verification of currency of your skills.

The upgrade pathway involves Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL/RCC) for your current Vocational Training experience/skills, plus a classroom upgrade course to fully complete the current TAE qualification.

Contact us for a free opinion on your eligibility for upgrade and we will identify the appropriate pathway for you. Please contact us today to commence the process!
